February 3 - 7, 2014

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is time for our Spring Conferences!  Notes for available times have gone home with your student.  Please return the notes with your time preferences selected on the note.

A/R is an important part of 3rd grade.  Please ensure that your child is reading at least 20 minutes every night.  It helps build vocabulary and confidence in their reading ability.

Our first week of extended day was a success!  The students did a wonderful job and we are very proud of them.

The last day to turn in forms for background checks will be February 7th.  You need to have a form completed if you would like to help in our classroom and assist us during field trips.

This week in class we will be learning:

Math- We will be working on measurement using customary and metric units.
Reading- Our reading story for the week is Out of this World.  Our main skills for the week are Problem and Solution and sequencing.
Spelling/LA/Writing- In Spelling we will be learning about words that contain the soft “c” and “g” letters.  Our focus in Grammar will be irregular words.
Science- This week we will be studying “Water: A Natural Resource”.
Social Studies- We will be studying a famous American soldier and Statesman.
