Welcome back to our blog and thank you for visiting!

We have a lot going on this week… Here’s the plan!

MAP testing – Ask your child when their testing will be since each teacher will be taking it at a different time. J It is 2 separate days and will cover all concepts in 3rd grade math and reading.

AR goals – All AR goals have been set for this 4th six weeks. Please encourage your child to read at least 20 minutes every night. Not only does reading every night help your child become an even more AWESOME reader, it also builds confidence, builds vocabulary, helps the imagination, and creates students with a thirst for learning! J

3rd Six Weeks Awards – This will be held this Friday, January 15th at 9:00 for 3rd grade and 8:15 for PreK, Kinder, 1st & 4th.

Your child should have been notified if they are getting an award so you can attend. J

College Day – This TUESDAY is college day! Please encourage your child to wear his/her/your (haha) favorite college shirt to school with standardized dress bottoms. J

RANDOM REMINDERS…

COATS! – Please have your child bring a warm coat to and from school. We know it is getting cold outside and we do still continue recess unless it is below 33 degrees. Please send it to school with them! J

MLK Day – In Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. we will not have school on January 18th.

STEAM challenge – This week we will begin creating, building, and testing our balloon powered car! Students have been asked to bring repurposed items to use for their groups creation. We sent home a sheet explaining a little more! Please look for that in your child’s PONY notebook. Please encourage your child to think outside the box and have fun with this! J We will be testing out all 3rd grade groups on Friday.

We know lots and lots of our friends, neighbors, and family have lost homes, treasures, belongings etc. We have had an amazing outpour from the city of Rowlett as well as Garland Independent School district! All 5 of us were so ecstatic to see your child’s bright face here on Monday! We are thankful to you for entrusting us with your most prized of all. J

If you are someone, or know of someone who was affected by the tornado over the break, and go to Pearson please click the link below to get on the GISD list of those families to help. Again, thank you for trusting us and being so gracious! Let us know if we can do anything to help.
